How do you capture the energy, dynamism, euphoria, and emotions evoked by electronic dance music, and translate these into qualities of architectural space?
This thesis is a process-based investigation into ‘listening’, ‘notating’, and ‘translating’. Each step is a result of an analysis of the previous step. The aim of this thesis was to develop a methodology for systematically perceiving, understanding, diagraming, and finally, translating towards a design application >> ’emotion’, and the ephemeral qualities of experiencing a sensation.
The thesis starts with allowing myself to be the emotions associated with experiencing the music of the fast techno scene in Copenhagen, and developing a system of notation, which acts as a home to an architectural program for a market in Norrebro, Copenhagen.
