The thesis project investigates the potential of developing a contemporary ski facility in Norway as a response to the emerging threats that the climate crisis is bringing upon this culturally significant activity.
Changing climate conditions pose challenges to the existing skiing resorts, and the possibilities for alpine ski training during autumn, summer, and spring are slowly melting away. The project, situated in the city of Lillehammer, aims to provide future generations with a possibility to experience the tradition, exercise and joy found in the heritage of Norwegian ski culture, and to develop alpine sports in the years to come.
