The project is a study on how circularity, inclusivity and social sustainability can shape urban space in Aarhus Sydhavn as well as how to popularize the usage of reclaimed building materials and promote circularity. The Cirkel Plads, placed in the very heart of Aarhus Sydhavn, offers something for everybody – both for the mix of different social groups currently using the area as well as newcomers. Due to the variety of users, the different functions are spread around the space, but the visual contact between users is maintained, inviting for interactions and dialogue. The space also offers flexibility and can be adjusted to the changing needs. Facades facing the public space as well as paving are both built from reclaimed building materials and work as a visual manifestation of circular principles, while the architectural language of the new structures mimics the existing qualities of Aarhus Sydhavn.
